“Glendora Talks” Social Justice

In March of 2023, SJAP President, Thomas Allison, was invited to facilitate a discussion on microaggressions hosted by a community-based organization called Glendora Talks. Glendora Talks has the mission of providing a safe space for community engagement in hopes of bringing about a more equitable and inclusive community. Thomas co-led the discussion with local NAACP chapter president, T.J. Campbell.

During the first program, Thomas co-facilitated a panel discussion and led provided a debrief and closing remarks. Thomas introduced the audience to the T.R.U.T.H. (transparency, relationships, understanding, trust, and healing) Model and provided a framework for responding to microaggressions. The program met great success and another one was planned.

On April 26, 2023, Glendora Talks hosted a second discussion on community values. Thomas was the keynote speaker and panel facilitator in the second discussion. The program received positive reviews. Thomas, and SJAP in general, are committed to community engagement and education that results in creating more equity and empowerment in our communities.
